The Revenants — An Immersive Show based on Henrik Ibsen’s “Gengangere”

Photoshoot for the Immersive Show “The Revenants”, based on the original story by Henrik Ibsen’s “Gengangere”

“The Revenants” is an immersive show based on Henrik Ibsen’s play Ghosts. In this immersive show, audience members roamed a four-story 19th-century mansion as the drama unfolded around them. It was co-directed by choreographer Sergey “Miguel” Shestepyorov along with directors Victor Karina and Mia Zanetti (“The Journey Lab”). The show’s narrative played out over 2.5 hours, with 18 actors performing more than 400 interwoven scenes across the mansion’s rooms and corridors.Premiering in Moscow in late 2016, “The Revenants” became a cultural phenomenon — it was even nominated for the 2018 Golden Mask. The production’s success led to a Saint-Petersburg prequel production called “Faceless” that explored the prerequisites of the storylines of the main characters.I was commissioned to create an official photo series for “The Revenants”, capturing the show’s haunting atmosphere and immersive action. This involved working on-site in the actual mansion set to mirror the feeling of being a silent masked observer within the story. The resulting photographs show the essence of each of Ibsen’s story characters. These images were featured in the production’s art book and used across various promotional materials, including merchandise and the official website. Shot in 2017.
